How to use the search engine

Overview
This search engine queries the CIR database directly. If you have additional information, corrections, or would like to make any comments, please e-mail CIR at mis@cirs.org.

Search by options:
There are four ways to search the CIR database. Use the Search by: ... select box to choose which method to use.
  1. Search by: Service Code
This is the default search method. Here, you search for agencies using CIR's system of hiearchical coding of problem descriptions. As you select the problem description links at the bottom of the page, the appropriate numerical code is automaticaly inserted into the text box.

  2. Search by: Description of Problem
This search allows you to find all the agencies that are coded by CIR with any problem description that contain the word or phrase you type into the text box. Try searching on "housing" to see a good example. This is not case sensitive.

  3. Search by: Agency Name begins with...
This search finds all the agencies whose name begins with the exact word or phrase entered into the text box. This is not case sensitive.

  4. Search by:Agency Name contains...
This search finds all the agencies whose name contains the exact word or phrase entered into the text box. This is not case sensitive.
