Description of Agency types:



Primary
All Primaries should meet the following criteria:
  1. Be a non-profit agency and provide copy of 501(c)(3)
  2. Have a paid staff of at least 1 person
  3. Have a board of directors, oversight committee or equivalent
  4. Provide services for at least 1 year before inclusion
  5. Is non-discriminatory

Secondary
If it is a non-profit, and agency should be included here pending adherence to Primary criteria.
If agency is for-profit, it will never be eligible to be a primary and must be judged on the following criteria:
  1. Provides a unique service in its area
  2. Is non-discriminatory
  3. If it's a professional organization designed to include only those from a particular profession (e.g. American Federation of Television and Radio Actors [AFTRA]), it must not be discriminatory based on race, religion, age, sexual orientation, ancestry, nationality, color, gender, disability or other such criteria
  4. Does not consist exclusively of private practitioner(s) or therapist(s)

Self-Help
Must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be non-profit, but does not have to provide copy of 501(c)(3)
  2. Should have regular meetings scheduled
  3. Can be new
  4. Can be professionally facilitated or not
  5. Is non-discriminatory
If a Self-Help is a part of a Primary or Secondary agency, it should be listed as a separate entity due to its more specialized services.
